Play Increases the Brain’s Capacity

“. . . it changes our feelings, thoughts, and actions and rewires our brain to function better in all contexts."

InterPlay

What is InterPlay?

InterPlay is an active, creative way to unlock the wisdom of the body; it is also the creative system Carolyn Renée uses in her work as a wellness practitioner.

In her own words, “As a former HR professional, providing resources like grief counseling to employees was just part of my job. After a devasting loss of a key tenured worker, I set up grief counseling for dozens of employees and had not handled my own grief in the process. The next day I was invited to an InterPlay session and ironically the group was playing with the theme of Day of the Dead (DOD), as it was November when DOD is traditionally observed. Using one of the InterPlay forms Dances on Behalf Of (DOBO), I got what I needed to address my grief and I also understood the power of InterPlay! Since then I have created InterPlay workshops and series for those experiencing homelessness, for youth and elders, in my wellness practice and workshops to purely play.

Play-4-Longevity

Through InterPlay Carolyn Renée discovered a vehicle to channel her love of singing, storytelling, moving, and creative writing and art activism. She has come to understand through research how InterPlay calms the central nervous system. Dr. Andrew Huberman, a tenured professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine breaks down the neurobiology of play.

Intersection of Interplay & Wellness

My service to humanity occurs at the intersection of InterPlay and wellness. InterPlay allows me to express myself as a body intellectual and help others do the same. I offer clients an InterPlay Focus Session. This is a powerful InterPlay form. The Focus Session Form is a time where you are listened to closely without judgment. You are invited to bring to the session whatever you are present to in this moment; i.e., it might be a question, challenge, celebration, problem, or just a way of being that you are curious about. I will bear witness to what you have to say. Together we will discuss a way to explore, expand, alter, and be with that idea or emotion.
